Factory Reset

Follow these steps to perform a Factory Reset and update the sensor to the latest stable firmware version. Ensure all requirements are ready before starting.

tip

Use this procedure in case of a critical sensor failure. This document applies to all types of devices.

Preparation & Requirements

  • Signal Strength: Ensure strong coverage for Cellular (LTE Cat-M1) or Wi-Fi devices at the installation site.
  • Power Supply: Ensure a stable and reliable power supply is available during the process.
info

A strong signal is very important, as firmware updates involve significant data transfers and typically take between 5 and 20 minutes to complete. If coverage is poor, the update process may take much longer or may fail due to timeouts.

Recovery Mode

Follow these steps to enter recovery mode on your sensor.

Phase A: Entering Recovery Mode

  • Orientation Reset: Turn the disconnected sensor upside down.
  • Toggle Power: Turn the sensor ON and OFF repeatedly until the LED displays a pattern of three (3) flashes.
  • Restore Position: Disconnect the power and return the sensor to its original (upright) position.

Phase B: Firmware Download

  1. Power On: Turn the sensor back on.
  2. Golden Image Download: The LED will flash rapidly for approximately 30 seconds.
  3. Network Connection: After the download, the LED will remain solid while attempting to connect to the network (up to 1 minute).
  4. Firmware Download: Once connected, the LED will start blinking (1 flash per second) while downloading the latest firmware.
info

Once the recovery process has been activated, the device will automatically attempt to update itself approximately every 30 minutes if an error occurs during the update process. In some cases, the firmware update may require several attempts to complete successfully. If the update is not completed within 24 hours, move the sensor to a different location and repeat the entire recovery process.

Phase C: Installation Process

  1. Flashing Process: The LED will flash rapidly while installing the update.

Phase D: Success & Final Activation

  1. Active Mode: Upon completion, the LED flashes once every 5 seconds, indicating normal operation.
  2. Verification: The sensor will generate 15 test signals, which will be sent to the server within 5 minutes.
warning

Do NOT power off the sensor during the recovery process.

Server Verification

To confirm the installation was successful, follow these steps:

  1. Access the Dashboard: Access the platform through the mobile app or directly from the web dashboard at sensviewer.com.
  2. Login Credentials:
    • Username: [your login]
    • Password: [your password]
  3. Status Confirmation: Within 5 minutes, you will receive a status message on the server confirming that the device is online and reporting data.
info

The first communication after recovery may take a few minutes while the sensor establishes the network connection and completes the initial data transmission.
