Base Ring Installation

Some Irideon sensors require a base ring accessory to be installed on the underside of the sensor. The base ring helps prevent some mosquitoes (typically females) from escaping the catch bag and crawling back into the sensor, which can cause the sensor to overcount relative to the contents of the catch bag.

Each base ring is supplied with:

  • 1 × Base ring
  • 4 × Phillips-head countersunk screws
  • 4 × Short black wires (for use only if required)

Installation​

  1. Turn the sensor upside down and rest it on its top ("hat"), ensuring the green status LED is positioned at the 12 o'clock position.

  2. Identify the two sides of the base ring:

    • Simple side: Four plain mounting holes with no other features.
    • Feature side: Four countersunk holes, one circular slot, and one semicircular cut-out.

    Position the simple side against the base of the sensor. Align the four mounting holes with the corresponding holes in the sensor, ensuring the semicircular cut-out is positioned at the 3 o'clock position.

  3. Insert one screw into any mounting hole and tighten it 2–3 turns using a Phillips-head screwdriver. Do not fully tighten the screw.

  4. Insert a second screw into the hole directly opposite the first and tighten it 2–3 turns.

  5. Repeat the process for the remaining two screws.

  6. Once all four screws are installed, tighten them evenly until the base ring is firmly seated against the sensor.

Do NOT overtighten the screws, as this may strip the plastic threads in the sensor base.

Troubleshooting​

Loose Screws​

If one or more screws do not tighten securely:

  1. Remove all four screws and the base ring.

  2. Insert one of the supplied short black wires into each loose screw hole.

  3. Reinstall the base ring by following the installation procedure above.

The additional wire provides extra grip, allowing the screw to tighten securely.
